Installing a sunroom from Sunspace Texas means that you don’t have to limit your sunroom to a certain time of year. We have three-season sunrooms and even all-season insulated sunrooms. But your sunroom may not look the same throughout the year. You may find as spring approaches that you have to take down holiday decor and prepare the sunroom for the new, brighter season. Or you may find yourself spending more time in your sunroom. Getting your sunroom ready for spring? Here are some of our favorite ideas to spark some inspiration:
Spring is a season of rebirth, of bright mornings and blooming flowers. It’s a colorful season, and one usually associated with baby blues, happy yellows, verdant greens, and soft pinks. You can go with pastels here, but bright spring colors will really help to make the sunroom pop. A combination of bright and pastel will give the room vibrance without making it quite glaring.
You can keep the room from being an eyesore by incorporating some earthy accents. A rustically weathered wooden coffee table or wooden chairs can help to bring the room back down to earth. Ferns and other potted plants might also help. Draw inspiration from your outdoor view. What do you like best about it? Try to find ways to echo that from within your sunroom.
Nothing says spring more than fresh flowers. In addition to — or instead of — a few earthy ferns, you might place a pot of pansies or begonias near the window or in the center of the coffee table. Flowers add a soft touch, but they’re also something fun. They immediately draw the eye, and may make you want to spend more time in the room simply by virtue of their being there.
Even with an all-season sunroom, chances are you’ll spend more time in your sunroom during the warmer months: spring and summer. So as spring approaches, you may find that you want to add more seating to your sunroom. This could be a couch rather than a loveseat, or an extra chair to go along with the seating area. A hammock chair is a great way to make the most of the indoor-outdoor space that is a sunroom, and it’s something unique and fun. Make sure this seating is comfortable. Envision yourself sipping your coffee here in the morning, or talking with your friends.
Spring is the perfect time of year to enjoy your sunroom, so make sure that your sunroom is designed as your perfect spring oasis. But it helps to begin with the right sunroom. At Sunspace Texas, we offer a wide range of quality sunrooms, from porch enclosures to all-season sunrooms. We even offer decks and railings, where you can enjoy the sunny weather from outside. All of this is backed up by expert installation and top products. Interested in a sunroom of your own? Contact Sunspace Texas today for more information or a free estimate.

Most people have sunrooms installed as a way to enjoy a combination of indoor and outdoor space. They can be sheltered from adverse weather while still surrounded by the outdoor scenery. But sunrooms are still ultimately an addition to your home, and that addition means that there’s more space to work with. You can expand your living space, and find creative ways to use your sunroom beyond just…enjoying the sun. Here are a few of our favorite ideas:
Studies show that exposure to natural sunlight can help you to be more focused and productive during the day, so it’s no surprise that a sunroom makes for the perfect home office. It offers a combination of home comfort and a refreshing view, so you’re less likely to feel bogged down by a stale or too-small work environment. A sunroom is also a great place for an art studio, offering plenty of light and shadow for both inspiration and ease of working.
A sunroom is a great place to entertain, but the versatility of the space means that you can go all out and offer something really unique. Looking for a place to have a fully stocked bar in your home? Consider your sunroom. Always wanted a pool table or a pinball machine? You can keep it in your sunroom. Add fun features into this space and it will be the first room where any of your friends want to go when they come to visit.
Sometimes you simply don’t have enough space, and that’s what a home addition is for, after all. Maybe you have a kitchen but no dining room or a dining room, but only large enough for your immediate family. If you want additional dining space to entertain, or even simply a different setting, consider putting a dining table in your sunroom. The wide, sweeping views of the outdoors offers a rich atmosphere, and the sunroom itself offers you more room for dining and entertaining.
Sunrooms aren’t limited to being an entertaining space for the adults. They also have great potential for a playroom. If you have small children and you’re tired of accidentally stepping on toys as you go about your day, a designated playroom where they can take out their toys and play to their heart’s content will keep your kids engaged and your toes unassailed. It’s not just a creative way to use your sunroom, but a smart way to parent.
Still looking for the perfect sunroom to give you the added space, natural sunlight, and versatility that your home needs? Sunspace Texas has you covered. We offer everything from porch enclosures to all-season insulated sunrooms, so you can find something that meets your needs and your budget. From there, what you do with the sunroom is all up to you. Each winter, 14 to 26% of the population are impacted by at least a mild case of Seasonal Affective Disorder, also called SAD or winter depression. SAD is a type of depression brought on by a lack of sunlight as days become shorter and cold weather drives people further indoors. While SAD is more common in the Northern states than it is in West Texas, there are still Texas residents who can become affected by the change in the seasons or just find themselves a little lethargic through the winter.
Fortunately, a sunroom is a great way to stave off the symptoms of SAD by literally letting the light in.
The most obvious way that a sunroom can help with your SAD symptoms is by simply letting more natural sunlight into your home. Exposure to natural sunlight has been shown to boost your mood, give you more energy and focus, and even help you sleep better at night. Because the days are so much shorter in the winter months, the lack of sunlight can cause lethargy and feelings of depression. Spending an hour or two in a room filled with sunlight during the day will help to stave off SAD for the year, even if you don’t feel like going outside.
But there are other, subtler ways that sunrooms can help lessen SAD symptoms.
Whether you’re dealing with seasonal or chronic depression, the environment around you can affect your mental state. If you’re stuck in a cramped or cluttered room, it can create feelings of irritability or further hopelessness and lethargy. Sometimes a change of scenery can help to jumpstart your brain and allow you to feel a little more focused and energized. A new sunroom with an aesthetically pleasing design could be just the change you need. Consider adding indoor plants to enhance the tranquility of the space, but don’t make the room too busy. When your surroundings are refreshing, it can help to refresh the inside as well.
Sometimes when you’re feeling down, it helps to surround yourself with people you love. Even if you don’t do anything, simply having the right company and knowing you’re loved and supported can improve your mood. With a sunroom, you’ll have more space to entertain, and because sunrooms are so versatile, you can make it the perfect room for just that. Set up a TV and watch your favorite shows with friends or bring a table into the sunroom and enjoy a family dinner. Even if it’s dark outside, the people close to you can make the world a little lighter.
January through March can be the roughest times of year when it comes to SAD, but a new sunroom from Sunspace Texas can help. We offer a wide variety of sunrooms, from simple screen rooms to all-season sunrooms that you can enjoy even in winter. Contact Sunspace Texas today for more information or a free estimate on your sunroom.

Once your sunroom is installed, it’s time for the fun part — designing the space! You can do a number of things with your sunroom. You can make it a playroom for children, an entertainment room, a craft room or a dining area when you feel like taking in the view outside while you eat. But there are a few design staples that just work for sunrooms, whether for aesthetic or practical reasons. Here are a few of our favorite design musts for your Texas sunroom:
Whatever you choose to do with your sunroom, even if it’s an indoor garden or a playroom, you probably don’t want to spend the whole time standing or sitting on the floor. You’ll want to include some seating. This could be a cozy couch, chair, or sectional if you’re going for more of a reading or breakfast nook. It could also be a long table with chairs if the design you have in mind is something more along the lines of a garden pavilion or a dining space. A work bench is great for a craft room, and a bench or chair can be a welcome respite after your morning yoga or pilates workout.
The vast amount of natural sunlight that sunrooms take in make them the perfect place for something of an indoor garden. Even if you use the room for other purposes, a few strategically placed plants can have a stunning impact on the design of the room. Colorful flowers are sure to catch and fascinate the eye, while herbs are something both beautiful and practical: you can take fresh cuttings and incorporate them into your cooking. Looking for something a little more low maintenance? Succulents require less water while still providing a beautiful appearance, but make sure not to put them in the harshest sunlight.
Not planning on creating a full dining space in the sunroom? A coffee table offers a more casual surface on which to place cups of tea, coffee, wine, or cocoa, or even a snack platter. It also offers a way to center the room, something you and others can congregate around. You can play your favorite board or card game around the coffee table or simply sit and talk for a while. It’s also great for storage in some ways, as most coffee tables include shelves under the table where you can keep favorite books or knick knacks. No matter what you’re going for in your sunroom, there’s a good chance that a coffee table will help to enhance it.
It all starts with the right sunroom in the first place. At Sunspace Texas, we know no two homes are the same, so we offer several different types of sunrooms. We have porch enclosures, screen rooms, and three or all-season sunrooms. We’ll work with you to construct the sunroom of your dreams, but how you design it is up to you. The post 3 Sunroom Design Musts appeared first on Sunspace Sunrooms.
There’s little doubt that a sunroom has much to add to your home. As well as the literal added space, you’ll have more natural light, a chance to enhance your home design, a combination of your indoor and outdoor space, and the perfect place for your indoor plants. But any home addition can be an investment, and you may find yourself wondering how you’ll be able to afford the sunroom of your dreams. Fortunately, we have a few handy tips that will make it more manageable, as well as ways that we make the cost easier for our customers.
The first step, of course, is to figure out what you can afford. Do some research about the costs of various sunrooms and budget accordingly. You don’t want to set your budgets around the lowest costs — the cheapest sunroom may mean the cheapest quality, and even when that’s not the case, you want to have a little padding in your budget for potential trouble. Since it’s unlikely you’ll be paying the whole cost upfront, consider what you’d be able to make in monthly payments. You may be able to reduce these payments due to financing plans — but more on that later.
Next, you want to do a deeper dive with your research so you can compare contractors and what they offer compared to others. Here again, you don’t necessarily want to go with the cheapest option, although you do want to stay within the budget that you set. It’s important to factor in long term costs. A great sunroom can add a strong ROI to your home and can boost energy efficiency. A cheap sunroom may be more cost than it’s worth. Consider what would give you the best value overall, rather than simply the cheapest upfront costs.
Finally, if you’ve found the company or contractor you want to work with but you’re on a tight budget, consider asking about financing. Most companies have financing plans that allow you to make monthly payments based on what you can afford, sometimes reducing interest for a period of time or giving you a grace period altogether in which you don’t have to pay. Financing is the best way to ensure that the sunroom you want is within your budget, so before making a decision, ensure that the company or contractor you work with offers financing and what plans they offer.
Fortunately, Sunspace Texas does offer financing plans to ensure that you can afford your sunroom and start enjoying its benefits to your home. We can discuss plans upon request and discussion of your budget and finances. We also have a variety of sunroom and porch enclosure options to choose from, so you can easily find the choice that’s right for you, financially and otherwise. Want to get started? A new year is an opportunity to give yourself a fresh perspective and set new goals. You often hear the term “new year’s resolution” around this time of year. For some, this may mean going to the gym more often, committing to travel, or attempting to get a promotion at work. However, some of your new year’s resolutions may be geared towards your home. Maybe your new year’s resolution is to install a sunroom itself, or maybe installing a sunroom can help with other new year’s resolutions.
In some cases, installing a sunroom is the goal itself. After all, it’s a beautiful space that many Texas homeowners can find cause to enjoy. However, your goal may be more complex than that. Maybe you want to raise the market value of your home throughout the year so that you can sell it before the end of the year. A sunroom, like many room additions, will add more space, thus adding value. Energy efficiency and natural lighting also help to boost value. Maybe space is the goal: your family is getting larger and you need a little more room to move around. Figure out what your resolutions are and how a sunroom can help.
What kind of sunroom do you want to install this year? Sunspace Texas offers a variety of options. Our screen room offers elegance and a full screen with maximum airflow while at a value. If you want a sunroom you can enjoy all year long and maximize your home value, consider a 3-season sunroom or an all-season thermal room for your home, a larger investment but with a more sizeable ROI. We also offer porch enclosures, which require less construction and more of a value in terms of upfront costs.
The problem with New Year’s Resolutions is that often, once the newness has worn off, so does the motivation. You may feel excited to go after your goals earlier in the year, but as the months wear on, you may start to neglect them. You don’t want to wait until November or December of 2020 to reach out to a sunroom company about your sunroom if your goal is to have it installed this year.
Make sure you plan ahead so that you have time to budget and can take the company’s availability into account. Sunrooms themselves usually take about 2-4 weeks to install, and depending on the time of year, the sunroom company may be busy, which means you could be waiting for a time before they can get to your project. Typically, the time of year between late spring and early fall is the busiest for contractors.
The first step to having a new sunroom installed is getting a free estimate. Sunspace Texas can discuss your options as well as the dimensions for this room addition to your home. We can also talk about financing so that your sunroom can more easily fit within your budget and give you a clearer idea of the amount of time the project will take. Contact us today to get started.

With Christmas on the way, you may already be busy decking your halls and now your attention has turned towards your new sunroom. In the shorter days that come with winter, the natural sunlight from a sunroom is a boon, and if you have an all-season sunroom, you can enjoy it even as winter comes on. In fact, it could be the perfect place to celebrate Christmas this year. It’s just a matter of knowing how to utilize it.
If you have an all-season thermal room or a sunroom with a fireplace in it, why not bring Christmas dinner out to the sunroom? If you have a table, lay out a Christmas themed table cloth and a few table ornaments. If not, you can always move a table into the sunroom. With the beautiful outdoor views, it’s the perfect place to sip hot cocoa or go in for a second helping of mashed potatoes while you spend time sharing stories about the past year with your friends and family.
Another option is to use the sunroom as a playroom for the kids. Having family over for Christmas often means having to keep the little ones occupied, whether they’re your own or nieces and nephews who live long distance. While all the distant cousins get together, you can give them a space to play with each other where the adults will still be able to keep an eye on them. The sunroom is the perfect spot for that. It will also give adults the opportunity to have a little more peace and quiet while the kids still get out their energy.
Window decals, tinsel, and hung wreaths can all be used to add some cheer to your sunroom screens. Just because we’re not likely to have snow on Christmas in West Texas doesn’t mean you can’t have snow in the sunroom. If you have kids or artistic friends, consider enlisting their help with paper snowflakes or buying snowflake window decals. For a softer touch, you could consider stringing white Christmas lights around the frames of the window screens to add light and cheer to the space even after the sun goes down.
Rather than rearranging your living room, consider placing the Christmas tree in your sunroom or porch enclosure. This way, you’ll have space and a place of honor for the beautiful tree. You’ll even be able to see it from outside. You can build up the presents under the tree throughout the month until Christmas rolls around and then gather in the sunroom to open them all as a family.
Here at Sunspace Texas, we’d like to wish you a Merry Christmas and happy holidays, and we’d like to present the gift of our beautiful, efficient sunrooms. We have a number of models, from screen rooms to all-season thermal rooms, and even enclosed porches. Contact us today for more information or to set up your sunroom so it will be ready for next Christmas.

Texas is known for spacious homes at great prices, but sometimes you don’t need that much space. Tiny houses are becoming increasingly popular as they give people just enough space to make it their own and be cozy without feeling that it’s excessive. In some cases, a smaller house isn’t the matter of a fad but rather an issue of budget. Whatever your reason, having a tiny house doesn’t mean you can’t liven the place up with natural sunlight. A sunroom can add value to any home, including tiny houses. Here are our tips for installing a sunroom in a tiny house.
Often, the appeal of a tiny house is, well, the size. Rather than adding a sunroom onto the house, consider screening in your porch and creating a porch enclosure. With efficient screens, your porch can make for a beautiful sunspace and it’s a project that’s more likely to fit within a tighter budget. It also works well with the aesthetic of a tiny house.
If your tiny house is permanently situated, you can help to keep your sunroom warm throughout the year by installing a fireplace. This fireplace will easily be able to warm a sunspace in a tiny house and may even help to cut down on heating costs throughout the rest of the home. It also adds an elegant aesthetic appeal to the space, which can help to raise the value of the home.
Not all sunrooms will work for a tiny house and some may be more than you need. That’s why it helps to either have a custom sunroom or find a place that offers a choice between several different sunrooms. At Sunspace Texas, we offer four different models of sunrooms ranging from screen rooms to all-season thermal rooms. We also offer porch enclosures.
Do you have friends or family that you’d like to live closer to or who are interested in going the tiny house route? A couple years ago, homeowners in Portland, Oregon connected two tiny houses with a sunroom in between for an airy modern effect. This could add to your own living space, or the second house could belong to loved ones that you want to have closer. It also offers rental or vacation rental potential. The sunroom can offer a common area and a way to connect with those staying in the second house, while you still have the privacy of your own spaces.
The most important thing is to find a sunroom installation company you can trust. Sunspace Sunrooms has been in the business of creating beautiful, efficient sunrooms for over 25 years, in Texas and all over the country. We can help you find the perfect sunroom for your tiny house and ensure that it fits. Contact us today for more information or to schedule your own sunroom installation.
